  • From Ryuu on Japanese traditional drink for the new year: Otoso

I think you need to research just a little more sir. Otoso has -NOTHING- to do with Christianity.
The kanji on the far right represents EVIL SPIRITS and the kanji on the left means TO DEFEAT. It is drunk by family members to protect against illness and misfortune for the coming year.

Christians love to believe that their religion is loved by all and it the only truth, when they are really the most blind.

    • From James Arendt on Japanese traditional drink for the new year: Otoso

You sir obviously have no knowledge of Kanji! I showed お屠蘇 to my Japanese friend she said the left kanji means something killed and the right one means ressurection. You are flat out wrong. I live in Japan. Do you?

I live in Japan and am sitting next to a Japanese scholar with whom I just shared your comment. According to my learned friend, your opinion is not according to reality.

      • From Ami on Japanese traditional drink for the new year: Otoso

I was born and raised Japanese and I must say I agree with Ryuu who left the comment above. Otoso has nothing to do with Christianity. It is said that the ritual originally came from China… I suggest you do deeper research. Better yet, if you live in Japan, go talk to the priest at the nearest shrine. Japanese people cannot be trusted when it comes to Japanese tradition especially after what happened after the WW2. Good luck!

        • From James Arendt on Japanese traditional drink for the new year: Otoso

You say you were raised in Japan but I wonder how old you were when you left? If you had up to a high school education in Japan, you would know the kanji means exactly what I say they mean. And if you know anything about the Gospel of Christ, you cannot fail to see the significance of those kanji to the Gospel.

  • From John on Westboro Baptist Church's false doctrine of hatred exposed

I don’t know why you touch on Esau so lightly. Malachi 1:3 and Romans 9:13 both make it absolutely clear that God hates that which does not honour Him and Esau sure didn’t honour God by not valuing his birthright, which was akin to saying my life is my own.

    • From James Arendt on Westboro Baptist Church's false doctrine of hatred exposed

This is a good point you brought up. I think it is well answered on http://www.toughquestionsanswered.org/2009/05/25/does-god-really-hate-esau/ From that page: (In Romans 9:13) Paul is actually quoting from Mal. 1:2-3, and a reading of those verses in the context of Malachi’s book clearly indicates that Malachi is using the word “Jacob” to refer to the nation of Israel and the word “Esau” to refer to the nation of Edom.

In other words, God does not hate individuals. And even if you still debate that, Esau is the ONLY individual mentioned in the entire Word of God that God hated.

I think you should see the entire point of the article is to prove that “God hates you” signs to be false. The “you” they are referring to you and me, us, anybody who is not a member of their church! Or maybe you are a member?

  • From Sarah on Kent Hovind Changes His Position on the Doctrine of Pre-Tribulation Rapture

That’s great news about Dr. Hovind. BTW, I obtained journalist Dave MacPherson’s book “The Rapture Plot” which is an “encyclopedia” on how the pretrib rapture was first originated and taught and how it was sneaked into existing churches and picked up by Scofield. A lot of bookstores have banned it, so it would be nice if Bro. Hovind could carry it and make it available to others. What is shocking is all the dishonesty in the pretrib movement (Google MacPherson’s “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty”). Lord bless you.

Thank you Sarah for your input and encouragement! It would be great if you would share some concise quotes from “The Rapture Plot” book in further comments on this page.

I’m praying and hoping that Michael F. Hoggard, an independent Baptist preacher I like, would become convinced that pre-trib rapture is false. I think he is open to the issue and considering the Scriptures I shared with him.

      • From James Arendt on Kent Hovind Changes His Position on the Doctrine of Pre-Tribulation Rapture

BTW, it’s spelled “rapture” not rupture. I did offer Michael Hoggard directly the Scriptures that indicate the Rapture is after the Tribulation of the Saints, and that the Tribulation is 3 and a half years. He listened to me and did not try to refute or contradict me.

        • From James Arendt on Kent Hovind Changes His Position on the Doctrine of Pre-Tribulation Rapture

I know preachers like Michael Hoggard of http://watchmanvideobroadcast.com/ who would strongly disagree that there are errors in the KJV. Pastor Hoggard discovered mathematical codes in the KJV that other versions probably do not have. One example is “Jesus Christ” “book” together with the plural form “books”, and “son of man” all appear exactly 196 times. This is 7 X 7 X 4, significant numbers for those interested in numerology. Another man I respect, Al Neal has devolved an interesting Bible code. It works well only using KJV or translations based on KJV like the AKJV (not NKJV)

About the name of God: I’ve heard things about this before and recently it’s been brought to my attention of a movement called “Sacred Name”. They say that words like “God”, “Lord”, “Jesus” and “Christ” are of pagan origin and not in the Bible. But Michael Hoggard set me right on that and exposed the Sacred Name cult for what it is: Legalism and a throwback to Judaism. Sacred Name people loath the translation of Philippians 2:10,11 in KJV:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. I’d rather stick with the KJV than follow those Sacred Name cult people. They are trying to change the Bible to fit their own interpretations. As you said, there is no private interpretation of Scripture, but the Sacred Name people sure have their own.

      • From James Arendt on Kent Hovind Changes His Position on the Doctrine of Pre-Tribulation Rapture

I do not appreciate you using my website to attack a person who I haven’t even wrote about on this article or even this website! If you have something to tell him, why not say it directly? If course he’s wrong about pre-trib rapture, and I’ve dealt with that extensively on this website, but the alien thing? The Bible talks about humans, devils, demons, angels, God, spirits, not aliens.

And I do not think it’s nice to try to hide your identity and using false email addresses.. What credibility does it give you to do so? None in my opinion. Proving things with Bible is cool. Yes, you do have a point about pre-rapture doctrine not being Biblical, but you cannot prove from the Bible that there are aliens from other planets. Tom just wrote saying, “To say that there are alien life nullifies Genesis and the Bible as it speaks of demons and the sons of God.” I agree with him.

These quotes are powerful and to the point! A part of history that has been excluded from the classrooms and seminaries. Like much of our world history, it has been changed and rewritten by those who secretly undermine the truth to superimpose their twisted view in the belief that the ends justify the means. Everyone should read, “Fifty years in the church of Rome”, and “Christ and the Antichrist”.

    Hi James,
Glad you like “the Word” Bible program – there’s quite a lot of addons at the official site, but you will also find some links to other sites with addons. I got all the works of Torrey, Bunyan, A.B. Simpson (Missionary Alliance) for example.

I had another program that’s a good one for windows – “e-sword” – but that ran really sluggish in wine. Xiphos Bible Guide is a nice simple one in Linux.

    I haven’t tried Theophilos – I might take a look at that.

I am so glad I made the change to Linux I’m really enjoying it – and the BEST things in life are free aren’t they!

I’ll take a look proper look at your new articles when I get a chance – thanks James.

  • From Sam on Move from Fedora 17 to Linux Mint Debian

Hi James, You certainly know your way around in Linux… A few weeks ago I took the plunge and installed Ubuntu 12.04 removing Windows in the process. It was the last straw when tuning off updates in the control panel was not enough to have control (essential for my data usage), I had to actually completeley stop disable updates (services.msc – I think I recall correctly) as well! That was Windows 7.
The few programs from Windows that I use run well under Wine.

I was a little apprehensive as to whether I would have problems with my usb modem, but no it was recognised and it was really easy setting up for my service provider – I was thrilled! Wireless for when I go to internet cafe (no data constraints when I need that) hasn’t proven to be much of a difficulty either. So that’s been great!

I’m using the Gnome desktop which i like – found the info online for how to install. I’m slowly finding my way around, there’s such a lot of help online – that’s a huge plus. All of this is a learning curve at age 59 tomorrow.

A really good Bible program with lots of addons – runs really well for me with Wine is “The Word,” in case you or anyone else wants to check it out: theword.net

Thank you Sam for introducing me to The Word Bible program! Wow, it certainly has a lot of features. I just installed it. Till now I’ve been using a simple Bible program in Wine called Theophilos http://www.theophilos.com/ It’s also free. The coolest thing about Theophilos is it’s so easy to do searches of either a word, a combination of words, or a phrase. And it gives the number of hits and verses for the search. Using it I was able to confirm what one preacher named Michael Hoggard said about the number of times “Jesus Christ”, “son of man”, and “book” in both its singular and plural form appear in the KJV, exactly 196 times for each or 7 X 7 X 4. Significant, don’t you think?

I am inclined to agree. While I’ve studied Icke’s ideas in depth and I listen to Jones regularly, I certainly don’t swallow everything they cast out there. Something in my gut just doesn’t sit right. Conversely, people like Kent Hovind are locked up in jail. I followed Kent for years before the “tax scandal” broke, and I honestly wasn’t surprised at all. Not because I think he is a genuine charlotan, but because I knew somebody saying what he was saying surely had a target painted on him. In this world of information and disinformation, it’s certainly taxing to sort it all out. In the end, I think guys like Chuck Missler, Stanley Montieth, and Kent Hovind were more genuine and consistent in their message.

  • From Lu on Perecentage of Obese People per Country

It’s not just sugar. It is much more the high-fructose corn syrup, which makes them stupid too, they use as sweetener in too many foods in the US & other Western countries.
And then the MSG they put in which makes them want to eat even more tacos and more mega-hamburgers and multiple plates of chips and drink more Coke that actually makes you MORE thirsty to drink even more of the stuff. And so they get enlarged stomachs that need to be stapled down, or they try to remedy it by drinking Diet (DIE-IT) Coke with Aspartame that can even kill you through ethanol poisoning. And most American foods contains 95 % GMO Soy that causes organ damage and feminises boys and gives one cancer.
It is American/Costco type food that is the clap-trap! Shun it! I personally only take sugar mouth re-fresheners out of fear of Aspartame that fills 75 % of all Wrigley chewing gums and pop sodas. They are killing us!

  • From Izzy on The Ten Horns / Crowns of the Books of Daniel and Revelation

I’m waiting to see how this crisis in Europe unfolds. If it results in 10 nations remaining then Daniels 10 toes/horns could very well be the correct 10. After all these same 10 conspire with the Ac to attack America.Looks like this attack comes in the wrath of God but maybe in the 3.5 year tribulation? So my point is ,so many of these countries in this other world grouping will have rejected the Ac as god by this time and even fighting against him .

  • From Izzy on Why I stopped listening to Alex Jones

My heart bares witness that Alex is the real deal. The spirit of the criticism I’m reading reminds me of the same attacks on a young Christian group warning society of perilous times coming if they didn’t repent. His message sometimes moves me to tears with it’s blunt honesty and warnings trying to awaken the masses.Once the disciples found some preaching the same message but weren’t of the 12. remember Jesus answer ,if they’re not against us they’re on our side.So my honest challenge to you is what is he ” preaching that contradicts fundamental family doctrines? I also admire the way he appeals to all faiths to drop all in fighting and face the devils cohorts. Doesn’t that parallel with new attitudes in the family? Alex isn’t as convinced as I am in a 6/24 creation and Is it possible that acts 18:24-26 could apply ? let’s give the Lord some credit for Alex’s safe keeping as 2 other bold system defying witnesses of rev 11 fame.

Dear Izzy, thank you for your input and thank you for all your good comments on my Deep Truths website! http://deeptruths.com I understand very clearly now that you are a TFI member.

About Alex Jones, does he really have good fruit? One person I know who listens to Alex Jones, is quite fearful for the future though he is a Christian. Another brother, a TFI member who is regular Alex Jones listener, a brother who was educated on MLs as we were, was shocked that I questioned whether Ron Paul was a Freemason or not. And from what he said, I perceived he considers Ron Paul the last hope for America! Followers of David ought to know better than that! No one man is going to change America. Even if Paul became President, he would be toast within a week if he sincerely tried to make basic changes. Why would the brother have such an attitude thinking that Ron Paul could save America? Mainly because he listens regularly to Alex Jones and Jones supports Ron Paul!

Remember that David taught us, truth mixed with lies is more deceptive than only lies.

Yes, I used to have a Siberian Husky named Prancy. I was so heartbroken to lose her. And we lost a Shizu last June. But we still have one left, a really cute mixed breed, only 5 years old. But no more pets after her! It’s so sad to see them die.

Rainbow Bridge? Do you mean a book by author Paul C. Dahm? No, I haven’t.

About Alex Jones: Just because of the fact he is sponsored by Genesis Communications Network which is owned by ABC which is owned by Disney (read MK-ULTRA, mind control) is enough for me to stay away from him. A man I greatly admire and respect, arguably one of the greatest American patriots of recent years, a man silenced for his truth telling, William Cooper, did not like Alex Jones and called him a liar. How often has Mr. Jones faced persecution? William Cooper was beat up several times and finally martyred for giving us the truth.

James, I wasn’t quite sure where to post this, hope it’s ok here.
I noticed you have a link to Jack Chick’s site in defense of Alberto Rivera. I am unsure of how trustworthy Alberto is because of something that occurred in the 80’s in Australia. Alberto visited Australia at that time. He was giving a talk, or something like that, in a MASONIC HALL. This seemed a little strange to me if this man was in such danger because of the things that he knew and that he was making public… I had read prior to this the series of comics supplying Info from Alberto – they also spoke of the danger he was in. I didn’t feel inclined to go to the previously mentioned talk when I saw when it was being held…
I’m not discounting all of his info but i am also wary.

Sam, thank you for your input. I like Jack Chick because I think his artwork has helped lead a lot of people to Christ, and because he supported John Todd though most of the churches rejected him. Maybe Alberto Rivera wasn’t totally legit, but I think his message is still better than those who speak only good about the RCC.
