Can We Know with Certainty We are Saved from Eternal Separation from God?
The words, “we know” are found 52 times in 48 verses in 33 chapters in 17 books of the King James Version of the Bible. Did you know out of the 66 Books of the Bible, that phrase is found in the first epistle of John in regards to the doctrine of salvation more than any other of book in the rest of the Bible? John the Apostle tells we can absolutely know we are saved and have a relationship with the Father though the Lord Jesus Christ!
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
1 John 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
One reason I am posting this is because I was raised a Roman Catholic and was told that only saints go straight to Heaven when they die, and I knew for sure I am not a saint. I may not be a saint the way the Catholic Church defines that word, but I am a saint in the biblical sense because I am a member of the Body of Christ through my faith in the Word of God.
