Is the Doctrine of Salvation by Faith Alone Taught Only in Paul’s Epistles? — 3 Comments

  1. Salvation in all dispensations has always been by faith because of God’s grace. However, what one must put his faith IN changes and progresses throughout the various dispensations which God makes clear has taken place. Hebrews 1:1-2. From your article you make it clear that John, Peter and James all say our faith must be in the NAME of Jesus. That is because Israel, who Jesus came to minister to ( Matt 10:6), had to believe that He was their promised Messiah. Christ means Messiah. This makes sense because Peter, James and John were all ministers to the circumcision ( Israel). They ministered to the believing remnant of Jews who believed in Christ as Messiah. After the crucifixion of Christ, He appeared to Paul to reveal a new gospel. (Gal 1:11-12 & Eph 3: 1-9) This new gospel is spelled out in places like Romans 3 and 1 Cor 15:1-4. By putting our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ we can be saved. Jews and Gentiles alike can find salvation though faith in the cross, because it is the cross that paid the penalty for our sin, without any works on our part. Paul said he gloried in the cross. (Gal 6:14) Believing in the what Christ accomplished on the CROSS to offer us free salvation is central to our salvation, but the NAME of Jesus is the gospel to Israel. These are 2 very different gospels. As non-Pauline Scriptures illustrate, the gospel of the circumcision had conditions attached ie. James 2:24 Faith without works is dead”. And Mark 16:16 ” He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned”.1 John 1:7
But If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”. There are dozens more.

It is easy to see if you honestly compare Paul’s gospel to that of the circumcision in the gospels, and Hebrews – Revelation, that Paul’s gospel is the only one that truly teaches faith in the death, burial and resurrection ( the Cross) of Jesus Christ as our only hope for salvation. You prove that yourself by the verses you choose to use to present the gospel above. Rom 5:8-9 is a great example, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Paul’s epistles is THE ONLY PLACE YOU WILL FIND THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD. It is not in gospels, although knowing Paul’s gospel you can read it into what is said about salvation in MMLJ. Paul’s gospel was a mystery kept secret since the world began Rom 16:25 because had the princes of this world known that the death, burial and resurrection would mean free salvation as a gift without any works, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1Cor 2:8). One must realize this dispensational change happened mid-Acts when Paul began to take his gospel to the Gentile world. IT did not happen in Acts 2 or 28 as some dispensationalist erroneously teach. Unfortunately, through this false dispensationalism, many have been led astray and true dispensationalism vital message has been lost.

    • Hello Mr. JMK,
Sorry, but I do not agree there are two Gospels. The Apostle Paul it clear there is only one Gospel.

Galatians 1:9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Any other Gospel that what? The Gospel the Apostle Paul preached! And that Gospel was confirmed by the other Apostles in Acts chapter 15. The Gentiles were not required to live like Jews. James gave the Gentiles only 4 ordinances to keep! This is the same James who wrote the Book of James! Legalists try to twist what James said to show we are saved by our works, but James himself in Acts 15 gave liberty to the Gentiles who believed in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
