End of Year 2017 Hitchhike Statistics
The bars in the graph show the distance in kilometers I hitchhiked in Japan each year from 2005 to the present end of 2017. This year was 18,033 kilometers or 11,271 miles which brought my total distance from August 2, 2003 (when I actually started adding distances) to now up to 250,452 kilometers or 156,535 miles. This saved me approximately $32,850 in train costs. My best year was 2014 of 28,352 kilometers or 17,720 miles. The total number of vehicles is 4087. Of these 79 cars were young mothers with little kids without their father or an adult male with them! Only in Japan this can happen!!
