What Roman Catholic leadership has to say about the Bible — 4 Comments

  1. I agree that past popes tried to stomp out bible reading, but didn’t Pope Francis say that if you read your Bible for half an hour a day, it would count to “working your way to Heaven”? Not much, but, better than nothing. And what about the Bible in Spanish (Reina Valera edition)? Is that also “evil”? It’s Catholic-approved. Maybe they especially don’t like the KJV?

    • I never heard before the Pope saying if you read your Bible for half an hour a day, it would count to “working your way to Heaven”, but I am not surprised if he did say that. His religion is based on works. We don’t get to Heaven by any works of our own, just by pure faith in what the Bible says about Jesus. And what does it say?

9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. — Romans 10:9,10

I don’t know about Spanish translation. I don’t read Spanish. But Catholic approved Bibles are not as good as those translated by Protestants from the Textus Receptus manuscript, the same manuscript that the KJV was translated from. That is why the Vatican hates the KJV.

  2. it is totally faith based. jesus did it all, don’t be fooled by any other doctrine. no one works their way there [heaven]. stay with the good ole KJV bible. avoid the jehovah witnesses & all the other “isms’ that are out there. the end time deceptions are many. if it isn’t a resurrected jesus & teaching it is anti-christ.

  3. An interesting site to read: https://www.end-times-prophecy.org/the-whore-of-babylon dot html. It goes into great detail identifying the Whore of Babylon. It’s an old school 7th Day Adventist site with non-trinitarian doctrine. Unforutnately they don’t recognize Christians died to the law so Saturday Sabbath keeping is no longer required cf. Romans 7. But they make a strong point to “come out from among her my people”. Unfortunately, almost every Christian denomination has been doctrinally tainted by Catholicism’s false teachings in some way. At the end of the Whore of Babylon section if you click on “Come out of her my people” they discuss The Daughters of the Whore of Babylon. Revelation 17 reveals that ‘MOTHER’ Babylon has ‘daughters’ who will also share in her many sins and plagues.
Revelation 17:5 …’And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.
The apostasy of Mystery Babylon predates even the Catholic Church but you can see the distorted teachings of the Catholic Church have certainly encouraged the apostasy. When wasn’t the church under attack by paganism? Christians have been bothered by it just like the ancient Israelites were. Jeroboam even led ten of the 12 tribes into false worship.
The link noted above is really fact heavy and worth looking at in my opinion even if you doctrinally disagree with the 7th Day Adventists who seem oblivious to Romans 7.
